Hi Guys,
I am completely a new born Suse and as being one is a hard job I have run into some problems. First of all I installed 13.1 KDE OS on my laptop(64 bit). I installed ll the updates and my laptop is hyperventilating and overheating. I have been used my laptop on a wired internet connection and everything was perfect. As soon as I returned home and got connected to my wireless router, my laptop is a frying pane (still working but extremley hot for the winter season). On my Windows I will say that this is a hardware related issue and one of my drivers needs to be updated. Here… I am just eager to get it working.
Please help me.

PS Is there an imaging software to backup my personal data and my settings, as Acronis is for Windows so I will not loose my data as I am foreseeing a lot of try and learn situations?
I am having 4GB of Ram , AMD ATI Radeon, Intel Centrino Dual Core 2,4

For backup personal settings run in terminal (press ALT+F2 → konsole) as user:
tar -czf /path/to/backup/home.tar ~/
you will have a “tar” file that contains setting of the whole home dir of that user.
Test? let’s say firefox is “broken”.
Close firefox! Go to you’re home dir with dolphin (press ALT+.) to see hidden files.
rename “.mozilla” to “.mozilla-backup”
open firefox again, you will notice that you have a new firefox configuration 
For image you’re root and home partition i recommend CloneZilla:

You can open a terminal, and run ‘top’ in it, to find out if there is a
process using too much CPU.
Another possible heat problem can be the graphics hardware. What do you
have?

Winth regard to my hyperventilation problem, after I run ‘top’ I have seen 1 process named xorg that was running as root and having values between 0, 3 and 7, 5…
My graphic card inquieri retunrned the following:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] RV635/M86 [Mobility Radeon HD 3650] [1002:9591]
Subsystem: Sony Corporation Device [104d:9035]
Kernel driver in use: radeon

It backups the entire disk you tell it to backup, no more.

Well, you have to try the proprietary driver, then. I’m not suficiently
familiar with the AMD graphics to tell you how, somebody else will have
to. But I know that there are howtos around here.

I installed the package ,I added manually your sysconfig file in etc/sysconfig file. I believe I should have a graphical interface to set the power to low, however, I am unable to see it. Like, I said, I am new to linux and everything is a bit …newish.

Once the rpm is installed, configuration of the file is done via YaST
-> /etc/sysconfig editor.

That did the trick. So far so good, my laptop is running smoothly and I learned something new. Thank you guys, Thank you linux community.
