Huge OpenOffice.org/Java font sizes

I have had this problem since the installation. The font sizes in OpenOffice.org are abnormally huge. Am I missing a package?

Here is a screenshot to illustrate my problem:

i don’t know if you are missing anything, or not…

have you tried adjusting the font size?

try this:

  • open a spreadsheet (like the one in your screen shot)

  • press F1 key (OO.o help should pop up)

  • click Index tab (second from left)

  • type font into “Search term” blank (on the left)

  • click “Display” button (at the bottom)

  • now the list below the search blank is FULL of info on fonts

  • click on “font lists” (first ‘font’ item listed here, in english)

  • the right side of the dialog refreshes and at the top is instructions
for setting the scaling of fonts (and tool bar icon size) used in the
user interface (that is, everything which is NOT inside a document you
    are working on)

here, my help pages tell me to (while in Calc, to set the interface font
size) to GO Tools -> Options -> OpenOffice.org -> View

and, when i do that up pops a page with all kinds of user adjustments
possible…my GUESS is the one near the top labeled here as “Scaling”
can be reset to something other than 100% (which seems to be the
default) and make you happy again, without installing any new packages…

but that is all a GUESS…as i’d never looked for that information in
the help section before you question here…so, let me ask: did you
look in the help section before asking here?

Maybe your DPI is detected wrong (happens with intel graphics). Try to
force it to 96 in kcontrol/Appearance/Fonts and then restart OpenOffice.
This will have an effect on all fonts, even KDE.

Try this: (Sorry, English menu options, please figure out what it is in your language (German?):

In OpenOffice Calc, click Tools-Options-OpenOffice.org-View-“Use System Font for user interface”.
