huawei modem cant connect to internet opensuse 11.2

Hallo!I have just upgraded from openSUSE 11.0 to openSUSE 11.2.In 11.1 I was able to use my Huawei modem to connect to the internet.

I have tried to configure my 11.2 to connect to the internet via this modem but I have been unable to do so.I have placed the following settings on the KnetworkManager

Conection Name:ZAIN
Number:*99#
APN:ke.celtel.com

I have left the PPP configurations as default.

The connection is shown as active. When I type the following commands from terminal the results are as folows

JOEY-SUSE:/home/JOEY # ifconfig

ppp0 Link encap:Point-to-Point Protocol
inet addr:172.20.90.210 P-t-P:10.64.64.64 Mask:255.255.255.255

TX packets:12 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0

RX bytes:230 (230.0 b) TX bytes:257 (257.0 b)

JOEY-SUSE:/home/JOEY # ping 195.219.14.20
connect: Network is unreachable

JOEY-SUSE:/home/JOEY # ping yahoo.com
ping: unknown host yahoo.com

How can I resolve this situation? Thanks.

Sounds like you do not have the latest version of networkmanager/knetworkmanger installed. There was a bug that would not update /etc/resolve.conf with the DNS servers. The latest update fixes this issue.

If that doesn’t work you may need to add a static DNS server in /etc/sysconfig/network/config. Doing this does not affect your other network connection profiles. You can either use the DNS servers for your ISP or one of Google’s public DNS servers.
