Huawei E169 setup help needed

Hello all,

I’ve just installed Open SUSE 11.2 on my acer travelmate 250 laptop.

Everything seems to work ok, it starts and shuts down without any complaints.

I inserted my Huawei E169 USB modem to connect to my Mobile Broadband account and discovered a new icon appeared in the system tray that looks like a mobile phone. So i started messing around with its setings but do not seem to be able to get the think to work.

I’m with virgin mobile broadband in Australia, i’ve checked their website and the APN is virginbroadband and the username and password are both : blank

However it still will not connect.

Any ideas ?

have you had it working before on linux and/or OpenSuse?

are you using KDE?

I can’t work out from your posting if you have done a manual configure; (when you mention the APN settings etc)

I am only familiar with Gnome, but I wonder if you right click on the mobile phone icon; to access the configuration settings;

here are a couple of links where folks describe setting up Virgin Oz on linux
