Hi,

Hi, this is definitely too meager to help you.
First of all, can you tell us if the modem is recognized correctly by yast?
Second, which is the modell you are speaking about.
Then we will have a look on the next steps.
Yes the modem is detected and the model is HSPA SAMSUNG .
I am somehow puzzled. So, WHAT is this modem?
Is
a) usb
b) pcmcia
c) integrated in a NC-10
d) a huawei modem?
It is nice that you want help. Did you google before asking? And can you put yourself in the shoes of the OP on this side of the keyboard?
How can I know what kind of problem you have if you do not tell me.
Do you use Opensuse 11.0, 11.1, 11.2? Do you use KDE4 or KDE3.5? Did you try to setup the modem and did you do it in yast? Did you use networkmanager? Do you like Coca Cola? (This last question makes it arbitrary but it is ment to make you THINK). How can people help you if they do not know what you have and what solution you do need?
Thank Mr but without saying all that ! (… justify)
The type of modem > integrated in NC10 running suse 11.2 ,I said that I tried the 2 avalaible methods Kinternet and KNM but whithout result.
if your’re busy thank you for the time that you spent in this thread.
So you are running a Samsung integrated modem in the NC-10. There are different HSPA modems with Samsung Chipset on the market. So it was not self evident at all.
Can you post the configuartion you did in Yast and the logfile of the Networkmanager that is produced during the call attempt.
How are the symptoms of your problem: Does it call btw? Or is the modem not seen in network manager.
Or is it seen and when you select it, it does simply do nothing (that is what happened with my pcmcia huawei).
What version of Networkmanager are you running?
What exact version of KDE4 are you running?
What UMTS network do you want to connect to?
Can you post the setup of the umts network you did define in network manager?
Did you setup the firewall value of the modem to “external zone”?
What was the output or error message when trying with kinternet?
The KNM :
I’m using KNT 0.7.1 , KDE4, the filelog is (
modem-manager:(ttyACM0)openning serial device;
modem-manager:fot failure code 100 :unknown error;
) , during the call attempt the message is waiting for authorization after ~ 10s >> exit.
about the UMTS I have the 3G+ (HSDPA)
it’s setup : profile anything
name:wac
password:1987
APN:www.iamgprs2.ma
mode:3g
pin:++++
puk:----
…
Pin ++++ means you have taken off the pin or you did not put the pin? If your card (when you put it in a normal phone) asks for a pin, you will have to indicate it in order to do the dialout. In case, either you indicate the pin of the card in the network manager umts 3G modem setup values or (this is my favorit solution) you take off the pin in a cell phone, leaving the card open.
You should also look in software search if a newer version of network manager is available.
If you do only use 3G all the time, you could have a look on UMTSmon
Question: which version of KDE4 you have installed (4.1 / 4.2 / 4.3?) You can see this in any kde application clicking on help: about kde
Thanks, the problem is resolved after installing umtsmon .
Best Regards Mr.
