HPprinter old USB P1102

As a novice: a lot of trouble with USB printer HP p1102,
choose to print one page = works,
try to print another page = does not work,
the next day try to print one page = does not work,
next page = does not work.
on some odd occasions it has been possible to print multiple pages.
Is it really supposed to be like this??
