HPLIP : What package to use

Hello.
I have found at least 3 packages :

  1. In yast
  2. In hp ( https://developers.hp.com )
  3. In home:/Sauerland:/sane/15.4/
    Which one is recommended/best.
    I may guess that if Sauerland build its own package, there will be a good reason.
    Thank you for your advice.

If your Printer/Scanner needs no actual hplip, use the ones from Yast.

Because less Repos are often more…

For years I’ve used the hplip versions from YaST, and they always worked properly with whatever HP printer I had. Currently, hplip is version 3.21.10-150400.3.5.1 from Update repository with updates from SUSE Linux Enterprise 15.

Problem with hplip yast 3.21.10.150 :

error: python3-pyqt4-dbus PyQt 4 DBus - DBus Support for PyQt4                         OPTIONAL        4.0             -               MISSING    'python3-pyqt4-dbus needs to be installed'
error: python3-pyqt4 PyQt 4- Qt interface for Python (for Qt version 4.x)         REQUIRED        4.0             -               MISSING    'python3-pyqt4 needs to be installed'

I return to hplip from HP

You do not need them, try as root:
hp-setup
