HPLip stopped printing!

For some reason I can no longer print documents to my printer. I tried all of the following and nothing works:

  1. Checked the printer and it still shows it having proper status
  2. Tried reinstalling hplip both from YAST and from HP’s website for latest version, neither fix the issue
  3. Tried readding the printer (it’s wireless) it finds it perfectly and adds it, but still won’t print to it
  4. In CUPS, if I select the printer and choose “print test page” it prints that! But in hplip, it does NOT print a test page!

When I try to print from kwrite, it pops up the message alert that it started a print job and then immediately that it was completed successfully but it never prints!

How do I diagnose and fix this?

(BTW, the printer is fine as I can still print from a windows computer)

Not sure what you mean by in CUPS and in hplip - hplip uses CUPS.

Was the kwrite document in the CUPS queue? If so, did you check the option to Resume printer in CUPS? Or, if that was not available, did you try Stop printer followed by Resume printer?

I find that various events can cause an HP printer to send a stopped message to CUPS after which CUPS requires a manual resume and, occasionally, CUPS seems to forget to reset Resume printer.

It doesn’t forget, it is intentional behaviour.
