Hello,
I updated my tumbleweed server to plasma5 and last kernel today.
When I log in KDE the program HPLIP start automatically and should add an start icon in the system tray.
Now with plasma5 i receive an error: "No system tray detected on this system. Unable to start, exiting "
But while the above error windows is displayed, the hplip icon is displayed in the system tray
if i validate the error the icon disappears from the system tray.
any solution?
Many thanks in advance
Philippe
AFAIK that’s a bug in the hplip applet.
I’m not sure of a workaround though.
One option is to uninstall hplip. Your printer should still work fine afterwards.
Thanks Wolfi,
I found that starting HPLIP from the application launcher, load it. So this is a workaround.
In KDE4 the system tray was correctly updated. I suppose that I need waiting an update of hplip for plasma5

FYI, this is currently discussed on the opensuse-factory mailing list:
http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-factory/2015-06/msg00134.html
Apparently delaying the start of hplip should help, see also this mail in particular:

Thanks Wolfi
The proposed solution works for me.
