I use 64 bit opensuse 10.1. on one machine and printer HP Laserjet 1006. yast sees pressence of printer but I cannot find driver for it. please advise which CUPs version does have drivers for this printer,

Have a look here OpenPrinting database - Printer: HP LaserJet 1006 I would also, recommend you try openSUSE11, unless that is SLED 10 with service pack 1 & not SuSE 10.1. SuSE 10.1 is no longer supported & may give problems with fairly recent hardware
