hp toolbox doesn't recognise printers

I cannot get the hp toolbox to work, whether I set up my printer with Yast or hp toolbox.

This is the annotation for hplip that displays in Yast:

“Since HPLIP 2.8.4 hpssd is gone. Stop in any case”

Hi
Have you tried the hp-setup (run as root user) program rather that the
other two methods you have tried?

I have never been able to get hp toolbox to run and I’ve never had any difficulty setting up printers using Yast.

I tried running hp-setup as root, but toolbox still does not see my printer.

I downoaded the automated installed from the hplip project at sourceforge. This works.
