Just upgraded to leap 15.2. I only encountered 2 problems, the first having been successfully resolved with the help of this forum. I have a HP LaserJet 100 color MFP that hp-setup refuses to recognize. I have tried hp-setup both as a regular user and root. I have tried 2 different cables and 3 different usb 2.0 ports. Nothing
When first plugged in the device was seen by the system and the printer is automatically configured without even going into yast. The printer itself works as expected. The problem is my particular device needs to have the plugin installed before I can access the scanner. I have always used hp-setup to accomplish this and know of no other way to get the plugin. Hopefully someone has a work around for this. Here is the output from a couple of basic commands to show you my system.

Hi
Run the hp-plugin command (as your user!) it will ask for the root user and password during install…
That was easy enough. Plugin installed. Unfortunately still no scanner. sane-find-scanner sees it, xsane does not. Scanimage and YAST don’t not see it either. Where to go from here? Been a long time (think scsi scanners) since I manually installed a scanner. hp-setup made me lazy.
Hi
I would start on new thread on the new issue
Also, possibly worth checking that USB power management isn’t at play. If you power cycle the printer just prior to running hp-setup, does that make a difference?
FWIW, one user found a BIOS setting (“Charging USB devices in Power State S5”) confused the printer about the USB state, which affected initialization…
https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-hardware-18/why-would-usb-printer-fail-to-restore-connection-across-shutdown-and-startup-4175644667/
Can you show us the configured printer URI?
lpstat -t
I have tried hp-setup right after a power on with no difference. Here is the output from lpstat plus a couple other attempts I tried. When I was running 15.1 this printer was setup as a network printer. Printer and scanner both worked as expected under 15.1. In 15.2 I had the same issues trying to set this device up as a network printer. I switched to USB to take the firewall out of the equation.

hp-doctor was informative. Stated 15.2 was not yet supported and checked dependencies against 15.1. Lots of missing dependencies if this was a 15.1 install.

I checked my bios and there was no option for the USB setting listed in the link from the previous post. I went ahead and installed some of the missing dependencies listed in the output from hp-doctor. libusb, libjpeg, notify2, and libcrypto are already installed so paths must be off. Couldn’t find packages for libnetsnmp-devel or sane-devel.
Ran hp-setup again, no change.
The printing repo has hplip-3.20.x for leap 15.2. My problem was different from yours, I was having printing problems. I installed the 3.20 version and that fixed it. It may be worth a try. Repo - https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Printing/openSUSE_Leap_15.2/
Checked yast and saw all of the hp packages had an update as well as the kernel. I went ahead and did the update. No change to hp-setup. In hp-doctor it ran past the qt error and asked for root permission. after giving root password it wanted to add a repository and install the missing dependencies. I declined. Output was too long. Cut off the beginning, same as before.
