I’m trying to upgrade from 11.4 to 12.1 but the BIOS doesn’t recognize the USB stick correctly. The effect looks like this: The stick blinks slowly, then the stick glows and then it starts to blink rapidly. At that stage, the laptop sometime freezes.
I tried:
- Different USB sticks
- Updating the BIOS
- The DVD and the NET image
- Running isohybrid on the 64bit DVD image (which warns me that “Not all BIOSes will be able to boot this device”) as per http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/install-boot-login/460748-usb-stick-boot-problem.html#post2407314
No game. I can copy the image to the laptop. Is there a way to install from an ISO image on harddisk when all you have is GRUB? Or can I maybe start the install from Windows (without a CD or an USB stick)?
