Hp Pavilion Laptop dv6-6145dx 12.1 RC2 Install issue

  • Installation system fails to load properly 12.1 RC2 Dvd.
  • The livecd fails in the same way
  • The failure comes about ten seconds after you hit enter on the grub screen.
  • Tried LXDE mint livecd and it worked just fine.

I believe it has something to do with the video card (a8 apu) if anyone has an idea on how to get the system to boot to a place where I can install frglx driver. I have tried to boot into the systems init 3 run level with no luck.

As 12.1 is not yet released, this posting is in the wrong place. Did you try
“nomodeset” on the GRUB boot line?

nomodeset work like a charm, also I see where I should have posted this thread.

I now have a 12.1 system running on this laptop.

What works:

  • wireless out of the box
  • Sound including jacks
  • Card reader
  • Video
  • Webcam
  • Multi touch mouse pad

Everything I have test works so far.
