I have an HP laptop and have almost everything fully working. All acceleration and graphics work almost in dual screen mode. The audio fully works out of the box and input tests are fully functional. The microphone works but external system factors cause problems upon reboot. The network connectivity works including the blue light button for wireless. The peripheral devices work except for bluetooth. Fingerprint reader is recognised and even works with another unboxed fingerprint reader for linux.

Not testing - just using as I have been using HP laptops with SUSE
since 9.2. I don’t need 3D acceleration, thus I use the framebuffer
driver for my Nvidia graphics. Since the bcm43xx project resulted in a
working driver for my wireless cards, everything that I have tested works.
Great, what laptop are you testing with SUSE 11.0?
This interests me because it would be a great to exchange ideas on faults and maybe create a fully functional laptop. The FB is slow on dual monitor systems and even single monitor systems with 1280x1024 [3D] settings. The 3D [OpenGL|SDL] acceleration is necessary for some developers and users who develop or use their system for accelerated graphics applications and entertainment purposes. The wireless driver is a MS firmware wrapper and is faulty the blue light goes off on updates. I am only interested in fully functional laptops; any other functionality interferes with the proper operatability of the system.
But I agree, it is better to introduce something when it works fully, but that is precisely the problem. Not all hardware works the same and how can you collect data about all hardware?
Anyone interested in testing laptops until everything works?

My current laptop is an HP dv2815nr. Previously, I had a dv2115nr that
was recalled by HP. The present one contains an Nvidia GeForce Go
7150M graphics accelerator. I do not use the closed-source driver, as
I am a kernel developer and ABSOLUTELY cannot tolerate a tainted
kernel. In addition, I change kernels several times daily, and
building an out-of-kernel driver is a time-killing step that I wish to
avoid.
This laptop also came with a BCM4310 wireless card, that is not yet
supported by the b43 driver, but I am part of the reverse-engineering
team that is preparing the specifications for this device. For my wifi
card, I am using a DW1490 that I purchased on E-bay. When this card
was installed, it failed the HP BIOS whitelist criteria, but I updated
the SPROM contents to make the Vendor and Product codes match HP’s
requirements. The RF switch can be used to turn off the radio and the
wireless blue light.
I have an HP nc 6120 and would LOVE to test things until everything just works…
Everything DID work when i first installed opensuse 10.2 on it… out of the box… Everything. well… except the card reader but i couldn’t care less… i noticed on my oher laptop that it does work out of the box. (two years ago it was a major problem getting it to work)
the funny thing was that the buttons in the “frame” did work (the mute, volume up and volume down buttons) but after downloading some patches/upgrades by the suse updater it just quit… well. i don’t keep track on what it was exactly so… bummer… i hoped that installing 11.0 would reinstate the handy functionality but it didn’t…
i even mannually installed the Omnibook kernel module but an insmod of the module returns a
omnibook: Driver version 2.20070211-trunk.
omnibook: Unknown model.
omnibook: dmi feature has no backend table, io_op not initialized.
omnibook: version feature has no backend
google, this forum, linux onlaptops where not so helpfull in resolving…
i did have my share of other problems i resolved…and some i didn’t forums.opensuse.org
and i will try to read in on the PAM authentication on my fingerprintscanner in my compaq 6710b
