Trying to configure an external display to work with the laptop, I have an acer x223w monitor that I would like to work when I’m at my desk, then obviously when I’m away from my desk my mini monitor to work. I don’t want to extend the desktop or anything, just mirror it, so basically I sit down at my desk, hook up the laptop, everything works on the external display… I leave and take the laptop with me, it works like a normal laptop.
I am new to linux and opensuse, thanks for the help.

What graphics card and what driver? It is the driver that does this
function. If the driver does not support the external monitor, then it
will not work.
Running hwinfo --short --gfxcard gives me this reply
Intel 945 GME
Intel Mobile 945GM/GMS/GME, 943/940GML Express Integrated
Not sure where to find the driver, so I looked in /etc/X11/xorg.conf and it lists it as
BoardName “945 GME”
Driver “intel”
I did notice at HPs website for this model they list the video as the 950 and not the 945, so that could be something for me to go on. Hope this is what you’re looking for.
