If anyone suceeded or can point to work rounds it’d be great to document it. As it is, what for most ppl here seems to work better at GM,than past releases like 11.1, is going down in Distro Watch as finickity and an unstable crasher, due to it not going on one of these new netbooks, and being unstable on an (old) Toshiba laptop.
I was able to install 11.2 KDE4 RC1 onto a ASUS 1005 netbook using a USB flash drive. I used the “dd” command to copy the iso file onto the flash drive.
I tried this with the release 11.2 KDE4, and it doesn’t work. The result of “dd” is a broken flash drive. It doesn’t mount. I was able to set up FAT partition using “fdisk”, however the drive was still unreadable. I was able format the drive using Windows, so the drive works again. The 11.2 downloaded has the correct md5 checksum.
