HP Laserjet M1132 MFP printer problem

Hi, I have tried to set up an HP printer by myself , unfortunately it did not work out. It reports communication error 5012 and cannot print even a test page.
Here is what hp-check -i returns :

Can someone check and tell me what is wrong and how could I fix it ?
I am a starter user of Linux SUSE, the OC was chosen by our company IT administrator, but he is not available for a ling period now and I have no other option for help, but to ask here in the forum.

How is the printer connected? (Network or USB)

it is connected with USB

  1. With the printer disconnected (but turned on), open a terminal and run
dmesg -w

then plug in the printer, and observe/capture the output.

  1. Try running the ‘hp’ backend like this and capture what is returned
sudo /usr/lib/cups/backend/hp

Post back here with that output.

Ok, the dmesg output is as expected, as is the printer enumeration via the hp backend.

Let’s see how the print queue and status are reported…

lpstat -t

BTW, best to use CODE tags when posting output like this. It preserves the formatting and makes it easier to read.

I am not quite sure how code tag is supposed to be used, I tried and hope it is ok.

You have the printer defined three times…
HP-LaserJet-Professional-M1132-MFP
HP_LaserJet_Professional_M1132_MFP
HP_LaserJet_Professional_M1132_MFP_2
and associated URIs…

device for HP-LaserJet-Professional-M1132-MFP: hp:/usb/HP_LaserJet_Professional_M1132_MFP?serial=000000000QH4RQDVSI1c
device for HP_LaserJet_Professional_M1132_MFP: hp:/usb/HP_LaserJet_Professional_M1132_MFP?serial=SMART_INSTALL_ENABLED
device for HP_LaserJet_Professional_M1132_MFP_2: hp:/usb/HP_LaserJet_Professional_M1132_MFP?serial=SMART_INSTALL_ENABLED

If I were you, I’d remove all of these and start over.

I note from this archlinux thread…
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=208508
specifically post#6 that ‘HP Smart Install’ can be turned off, and perhaps that is required here before attempting to configure CUPS.
