HP Laserjet 1018 gives "/usr/lib/cups/filter/hpcups" error

Hello,
When I install my HP Printer everything installs ok, but when I go to print anything it gives me this :"/usr/lib/cups/filter/hpcups" error, and nothing happens. When I run the troubleshooter it cant fix it and gives me a debugging .txt file.

This printer works fine on Ubuntu 8.04 and up, and also on Fedora, but for some reason it will not work at all on SuSE 11.0 and up. I’m using OpenSuSE 11.2 i686 32Bit.
I’m using hplip-hpijs 3.9.8-3.4.1, I’ve also tried it with the full HPLIP client and it says the same thing.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

I had a google around on this for you (since I don’t have much experience with HP printers). I found this thread. If you read toward the bottom of the thread, a post by Aaron Albright suggests removing the existing ‘hplip’ package via yast software manager, and install from here instead:

HP Linux Imaging and Printing

The OP decided to try running hp-setup and managed to get his printer working from there. Don’t use the yast printer utility though.
