HP DV6 Remote on openSUSE 11.2

I am unable to use my remote control with suse 11.2 64, only one button works, so I don’t have to configure LIRC?
Is it just wrong keys configuration?

I am wondering if you ever fix the remote issue.

Also do you every have trouble with the laptop coming out of stand by with no touch pad function?

No, everything works great except remote control

I too would like to know if you ever got the remote working. I just bought my dv6 and I love it. I’m sure this has something to do with the fact that none of my ‘fn’ keys work either. I believe the remote sends the same keycodes as these ‘fn’ keys.

My remote works for the these features.

  • Volume control and mute
  • The OK button works in VLC
  • The i button works to bring up the play menu
  • The four way buttons work with the play menu when i is pressed
  • The DVD button also works with vlc.

This leads me to wonder if all the buttons work if given something to apply to.

Hmmm… I’ll have to try more applications. I’ve found that my ‘fn’ keys actually do work and I have assigned them appropriately in Amarok, but the remote still does nothing. I will try using other apps. Maybe xev can capture my remote keycodes too.

BTW, I’m running KDE. Is that what you’re using?

OK so my remote does not work with any apps. When testing using xev the only button that is captured is the screen calibration button (or whatever it is) next to the windows button. It makes the screen flash a couple of times and gives me this output:

Also, this only works if I press firmly against the battery slot on the back of the remote simultaneously. I’m beginning to wonder if I have a faulty remote. Going to reboot to windows to see if it is working on that side.

Works just fine with Windows 7.
