HP dm1z

I am thinking of getting the new HP dm1z with AMD Fusion APU. Does anyone have experience running opensuse on this laptop?

The fusion platform is one of the latest product from AMD.
Altho very solid, being as new as it is i doubt there s a compatible opensource ati graphics card driver out there already. Not too sure about the proprietary driver tho.
I never had as good experience with AMD-ATI as with Intel + Nvidia :\

but if ur willing to sacrifice 3d acceleration, i say go for it

I read that that 3D should just work with kernel 2.6.38. I’m more worried about suspend and hibernate than anything.

I’m with you, I like Intel + nVidia myself but I cant find anything in a ultra light with that combo. Their is atom + Ion but I want a little more power.

yes, it shoulde work out of box for 2.6.38
i was considering buying dm1z just a while ago, but then i decided to go for the smaller hp210 with atom 550 and 3150 gfx
its defn’ slower, but very solid support for linux
so i am happy

I will buy the new motherboard of amd with new Buldoser CPU. As I see it will be perfect with my new AMD RADEON 6970. It will be the power in union.
