HP DeskJet F380, HPLIP

Hello,

I have seen that this printer is supposed to work properly with Linux, using the HPLIP opensource driver.

I used to have the HPLIP-standalone package installed but with that package, the driver was not automatically selected by YaST and the printer is NOT shown in the printer list.

Therefore, I have uninstalled that package and installed the HPLIP “normal” one (which requires CUPS) since I realized that YaST uses CUPS to print anyways.
Nevertheless, my printer still does NOT show up in the list.

Therefore, I was wondering which printer I should select, knowing that none seem to use the HPLIP driver.

Thanks in advance.

Okay, it seems that the packages HPLIP was marked as “taboo” so never installed.

By following this tutorial Install/Configure HPLIP - HP Linux Imaging & Printing | SUSE & openSUSE , the printer works fine.

Hi
Use hp-setup (as root user) to set your device up.
