HP Deskjet D2330 with openSuse 11

Using the standard install, my HP Hewlett-Packard Deskjet D2330 printer was not printing.

However, going to HP’s site and clicking on the Drivers link for the D2330 lead me to:

HP Linux Imaging and Printing

By downloading the hplip package I was able to get my Deskjet working perfectly. I had to install the python and cups development libraries along the way but the installation gives me the instructions for that.

I found that by selecting “only install printing” and don’t install LPT printers (mine is a USB) there were the least headaches.

I deleted the base install for my D2330 and now use the D2330 hplip driver and it works great.

This may apply for others having trouble with HP Printers and openSuse 11.0
