HP CM1015 Printer OK with Fedora 8 & 9 but not with Suse 11

I’ve just migrated from Fedora 9 to Suse 11. Suse is very impressive but my printer doesn’t like it.
Fedora 9 (and 8) fully supported my HP CM1015 color laser printer/scanner. Suse tries to drive it with the HP2500 print driver. It works for the most basic printing features only.
How can I get Suse 11 to fully recognize my printer, just like Fedora does??

I’ve been doing some research and it seams that I need to have “hplip-2.8.5-2.fc9.rpm” to use modern HP printer/scanners. Does anyone know how to install this rpm with the necessary dependencies?
The “fc9” in the file name hints that it is a Fedora Core 9 rpm. Does Suse 11 have an equivalent package?

  • flanna,

hplip is available through the regular software repositories. One version should be on the DVD.

Thanks Uwe.
The version included on the Suse 11 DVD does not support my HP printer (HP CM1015 MFP)
Perhaps there is a more recent version available??

  • flanna,

but this one says it is supported:

You could of course use the installer from the hplip site. I did that before and it always worked fine.
