Howto secure a productive opensuse workstation?
Have you virus scanner, for example clamav and rootkit scanner like rkhunter installed on a produktive opensuse workstation in your company?
The general consensus here is that running any AV software is only of use whenyou want to protect Windows systems where you have a relation with (e.g. when you are a mail server and want to scan mail before they enter a Windows system). You talking about a workstation means that it will most probably need no AV package.
As I interprete the general consensus (as the one above by memorizing all the many threads here about these subjects, which you could try to find with the search feature), a root kit is a much more likely thread. Thus installing and using something like rkhunter would not be bad.
