HOWTO,(LIDL) Sylvercrest photo slide&negative scanner SND 3600 C2, how to use

the SND 3600 C2 price is 30 €.
the SND 3600 C2 is an usb 2.0 device powered via usb.

it’s not a scanner (you cannot use any SANE technology).

it’s a camera. an uvc 1.00 compliant one with a button to take a photo.
format: 2592x1680
about 4.35 Mpx compared to a slide about 11 Mpx

you can see that the button to scan the slide/negative is seen as a usb 2.0 keyboard.

i did not find any linux app to use this device to scan photo slide/negative.

i set “Cheese” according to use the SND 3600 C2 instead of my webcam.

i use “Cheese” to take a photo of my negatives one by one.

after that i use digikam:

  • to create positives from negatives (colour inverse feature)
  • to fix colours with “automatic levels”

i use digikam batch feature to do this on all photos in one step.

quality of photos: 10/20, not very good but sufficient for me (not a professional). i just want to keep souvenir.
