howto - ftp to www

I want to upload some files via ftp and after that to access them via http (i have apache2 installed and configured properly)

I can’t use a ftp with system users because they are located in home… it should be something with virtual users but the problem with be the file permissions…

Any ideas?

Hi
You can configure apache to use the users public_html directory, then
it can be accessed via;
http://www.some.site/~username/

can you not ‘publish’ (upload) files to a public directory and allow
folks to download from that directory? just make the directory/files
world readable (not writable or executable) and ‘publish’ the address
to that directory…then folks can use their browser to pick what
they want…

Hi
I would look at using sftp rather than ftp to do this, reason is ssh is
already there and functional. Otherwise you will need to read up on
vsftp etc and set that up to run on your system. Windows clients can
use something like winscp to drag/drop files onto the folder.
