I’m running VirtualBox 4.2.18 as host under KDE4 on openSUSE 12.3 on 64bit Intel. I’m running a couple of 32 bit guests (Vista, Slackware).
I’ve had guest lockups when the host suspends.
How can I stop suspend under KDE4.10.5 when VirtualBox is running?
On 11.3 I knew how to do it - add it to the blacklist, but I can’t find that now, and it seems to depend on services accessible through qdbus …

I haven’t looked into this, and it’s a common documented issue for all virtualization technologies, <do not suspend the Host with a Guest running> (except maybe LXC).
My impression is that suspend solutions are rare and YMMV, likely because suspend can be initiated a number of ways, eg within a Desktop (very common), maybe at the system level (eg APCI).
So, probably the most reliable recommendation for all is to just disable all suspend related functions and don’t manually suspend.
I suspect if you want a solution that works as you did before, you’ll likely need to post in a forum frequented by KDE experts who are intimately familiar with the suspend in your current version of KDE… and you may need to re-investigate each time you change KDE.
BTW - There is some vague promises with the relatively recent addition of systemd that these types of issues relating to terminating or managing the termination of processes might be addressed through the use of cgroups, but this only <maybe> could be relevant and would have to be studied carefully.
