I’m tying to install either 11.2 or 11.3 for a friend & he has an ATI Xpress200 card.
Is this a legacy driver? would the repo way work? My experience is Nvidia not ATI.
Begging desperate shameless bump
I’d install openSUSE 11.3. The only choice is the radeon driver, but the good news is that the 3D support for this chipset is reasonable. I’m using it with my X300 chipset (in my ThinkPad).
I got this chip too.
Don’t install a driver - the opensource radeon driver works just fine (well, mostly…)
Don’t generate an xorg.conf unless you need to for other reasons
OS 11.2 just works with this card, I do need to get my x.org stuff from the x11 repo though. OS11.3 should not need this step.
Effects also work (some are flaky, such as blur though)
Weighty foe,
Thanks for your response but I need clarification on the (well… mostly).
If it’s a lack of 3D effects that’ll be fine. I just want to be sure what is meant by that.
