How to view characters that are not shown in good fonts on web page (firefox)

What is “correctly”?

is that an answer to my question?

I think so.

Sigh!

You show two pictures that are possibly the result of two browsers trying to interpret what we detected above as HTML code of an unspecified version. On the crucial place that code has an unsupported attribute (FACE) for the FONT element.

I abbreviated this in: it is lousy code.

Now you have two browsers that have to cope with this mess. Both show a different result. I doubt however that one can decide that one of them is “correct”. Both are the best they can make of it.

When you decide that, when one of those interpretations is what you hoped to see, makes that interpretation “correct”, that is up to you. But I disagree.

The long version:

  • Opera presumably shows what the author of the page wants to show
  • Firefox fails on rendering the page which uses windows-1252 encoding and FONT with attribute FACE
  • Users wanting to read pages with the above deficiencies should should try opera instead of Firefox

Possibly all Chromium-based.
Firefox is going to extinct.

But it seems to me that I got the same result as with firefox.
I have installed an addon named “charset” for changing code page but that does not help me.

II will retry one more time with opera.

On the other hand, I wrote myself document paper of this kind using libreoffice. And I have to use (as an example) ‘courier new’ font to avoid problems with the symbols " :clubs: :diamonds:  :spades: "

Thank you for your time.

You need these:

Cannot install because link to “https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/SUSE:/SLE-15-SP3:/GA/pool/” does not exists.

And cannot install by hand “webcore-fonts-3.0-2.12.noarch.rpm” for the reason.

Install via Show home:medozas74 / webcore-fonts - openSUSE Build Service
(home:Dead_Mozay does not works)

That works.

Thank you very much
