Any tips? i really need it hehe

Help? heheh thanks

Hi there

I was about to try it few months ago, but then I realized that my desktop’s chipset is the only one from it’s series that doesn’t support IOMMU. I’ll try it in the next few months at work since I got a new machine IOMMU capable, just need the time to do that… In the mean time, maybe you are lucky that I’ve just been reading these forums and found this - https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/522015-VGA-PCI-Passthrough-guide-on-openSuSE-Leap-42-2 - Despite being 42.2, I think it will do the trick for both of us.

One important thing is that you mentioned laptop… From what I’ve read before, laptop switchable graphic cards were not supported… I’m not sure if it is supported right now, but I think it’s not.

Good Luck

PS: Please, let us know if it works for you

Search for threads in the Install and Virtualization forums.
Topic has been raised a few times, with extensive info posted.

If you have further questions, you can post with more specific detail in either of those fourms
Since you’re asking about IOMMU, I recommend you concentrate on what is in the Virtualization forum, and what you might try is specific to the virtualization technology you decide to implement.

BTW - I can’t guarantee overall performance, but I also ran a test using VMware without any hardware passthrough, running a WebGL benchmark and found that at least for that there was only a less than 5% degradation comparing the virtualizaed Guest to the Host. Is in the Virtualization Forum within the past half year with the scores.
