how to use bookmarks in text file

Hi there

I’ve been using chromium but, as people have been discussing in another thread, I’ve been experiencing freezes, crashes etc so want to use another browser. Unfortunately, the ‘export bookmarks to html file’ is unresponsive in chromium.

I’ve copied the text file from the .chromium folder but I don’t know if there’s a way to import it into another browser (any browser!) as it’s in the format

{
            "date_added": "12962826645000000",
            "id": "61",
            "name": "BBC - Homepage",
            "type": "url",
            "url": "http://www.bbc.co.uk/"
},

Is there way I can process this in bulk or am I going to just have to copy and paste my bookmarks one by one?

Many thanks

Dave S

I have no immediate solution, but what I would do to give myself more information, is starting another browser (FF for example), add a few bookmarks and export them. Then I could see how they differ from the format you have.

Take an editor, put one url per page, then open that file in ay browser.
Click on each url one by one, and add the bookmarks, one by one.

Or save the bookmark to the file, and use it when needed. You can write
your comments on it, keep it as an html file.

Have you tried the ‘xmarks’ add-on for chromium? It allows you to synchronise bookmarks between different browsers, and different computers.

Hi
the ‘xmarks’ add-on worked perfectly, I didn’t know about it - thanks very much for your help!

Best wishes
