How to update to lastest version of KDE4

I’m running 11.0 RC1 and have all the packages up to date. I’m enjoying using KDE4 and I’d like to know if someone can tell me how I would go about keeping my KDE4 up to date with the most recent version? I believe that the version that I have installed is version 4.0.4.

Thanks

Someone please correct me if I’m wrong, but believe that I read that openSUSE is not going to get 4.0.5, since 4.1b is in really good condition. If you want to take the plunge and move to 4.1, you can access a one click install on the page below.

K Desktop Environment - Getting KDE

If you run that, it wouldn’t hurt to also run a

zypper dup

Afterwards. It is in beta though so keep that in mind. It is very stable from my experience however.

Thanks, I think I’ll give it a try.

Go here: KDE/Repositories - openSUSE

Look for KDE4/STABLE(my recomendation)and /KDE4/UNSTABLE the unstable will be under KDE 4 Development. BE ADVISED! The unstable is beta KDE 4.1 & it can mess up you system.

Copy the link go to YaST -> Software -> Software Management. Then, in the menu: Repositories -> Repository Manager.
click add check the Specify URL box paste the link in the box that shows click finish.

Then go to Yast>software Management
Once the Package manager comes up in the left pane click the filter drop down select repositories search for the KDE repo just installed select it. Now in the left pane right click the 1st item checked select update all in this if newer(something like that)click accept then Yast does its thing.

In my own experience, the one click install from the KDE download page, worked better then adding the repos and updating the packages in YaST. The one click does add the repo for you, and installs all the 4.1 base packages. Seems a bit easier too. Just my .02.
