Hi everyone, I have a dual system with openSUSE 11 and Windows XP, and now my system works very good with me being able to do everything I need with Linx, so I want to remove windows ( its no use to share resources and space on a relatively small notebook ) but without damaging my linux installation …
any advice?
Open Yast partitioner at Yast → System → Partitioner. Highlight the XP Partition, click Edit and format it ext3 for Linux, there’s a new data partition, spare space, whatever. End of story.

Step 1: Remove the “Windows” option from your boot menu:
Start YaST, go to group “System”, select “Bootloader Configuration”.
Select the line saying “Windows” in the “Label” column and click “Delete”,
then “Finish”.
Step 2: Recycle the Windows partition(s) on your hard disk(s):
Start YaST (if it isn’t still running from step 1) and select
“Hard Disk Partitioning” in the “System” group. Find the Windows
partitions in the list - recognizable either by their type (NTFS or
possibly FAT) or their mount point (starting with “/windows”) - and
delete/reformat/modify them to your liking.
That’s all.

Yep, it’s a real operating system, just like windows. I remember in about 2004 I discovered in a magazine the existence of Linux. The very concept of an operating system other than windows (and Apple) astounded me.
Enjoy Suse
