Hallo,
I run an openSUSE 12.1 on my PC at work, in a VMware Player, under XP. I have a really annoying issue though. Every time I have a modal window in the host PC, VMware player exists full screen. Player is setup to run in 1280x1024 resolution in full screen and the same resolution without full screen. I cannot configure player to stop the “exit full screen” behavior. The problem is that the KDE Panel resize itself to an almost non-usable size: <10 pixels!
So, the question is how do I setup the panel to keep it’s size?

not me (and probably not the other 51 folks who looked in on your thread)…
i do know that VMWare has some limitations…as does the OS you are
hosting with…but, i have zero idea if those limitations are affecting
your panel size…i can only note that i’ve not seen the symptoms you
describe, and would have no idea how to solve it other than to try
running openSUSE 12.1 directly on the hardware and see if the problems
sneaks away…
then, maybe you could coax XP to run in a VM of some kind–but i have no
experience with that either…
i prefer VBox running in openSUSE, and then other/older Linux distros in
that, but ymmv
It can’t be a limitation of VMware. I do not have the time to check with VB, but I think that I will do that with a live-cd.
Anyway, of you course you cannot see that in a physical machine, unless you can change on the fly the screen dimensions.
I believe it is a “bug”, but I need to confirm it.
