How to set up NIVIDIA+AMD on TW for stability?
Got a GT710 for CUDA reasons but still plan to use my AMD R9 390 for everything else.

Did you already check the documentation? switcherooctl seems to be the best solution for multiple cards.

Nvidia+Intel here, so not exactly the same, and Gnome with switcherooctl automatically chooses what is best for the task, e.g. desktop rendering on Intel but openCL on Nvidia if you open LibreOffice Calc and even some video hw decoding via nvidia-compute when supported. Might work with Plasma, but I don’t know for sure.

@40476 at a minimum I would set the cuda device for vulkan with a /etc/environment file and MESA_VK_DEVICE_SELECT="PCI:ID of the gpu"

Never had any luck really with AMD and Nvidia combo. But the 710 is getting a bit long in the tooth as well…

I am trying to spend as little money as possible to get ComfyUI running, since CPU mode is abysmally slow and my R9 390 is “too old” for ROCm. (which is crap but whatever), and I managed to secure an old NVIDIA card since I have not sent any age locked NVIDIA cards like AMD cards are on ROCm.

Desktop?

Possibly GT710 is too old:

And OFC, GT710 is slow. VRAM is only 0.5 - 2 GB.

Connect your monitors to AMD dGPU. Install Nvidia drivers - compute part (or CUDA).

AMD video cards are mainly unusable for GPGPU.

For Nvidia with stability use Leap or at least Slowroll.
