How to set up greetd/gtkgreet to use instead of LightDM (to run Xfce)

Dear all,

in December 2024 Screenshots I asked @malcolmlewis about DisplayManagers and changing them (in order to run Xfce/X11 rootless, which does NOT with LightDM, but would with GDM or SDDM which I myself don’t like)

He told me about greetd and the belonging stuff.

Can anyone help me how get get greetd/gtkgreet working instead of the use of LightDM in order to run Xfce/X11?

So far, I have looked at https://en.opensuse.org/Portal:OpenSUSEway/Installation and https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Greetd (which is baes on Arch, of course) — but I don’t get it. I need help for dummies.
