Hey,
So this morning I just upgraded my laptop from OpenSuSE 11.2 to 11.4. I am using the Gnome Desktop (2.6.37.6-0.5-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT 2011-04-25 21:48:33 +0200 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux).
As of right now the “Taskbar” at the bottom of the desktop, does NOT stretch all the way across the bottom (meaning it would start on bottom-left edge and go to the bottom-right edge) of the screen. Right now it is sort of centered at the bottom, and its size changes depending on how many windows are open.
So is there any way to set it to a fixed width (by that I mean I want it to take up the entire bottom of the screen x-amount of pixels high, etc…
Any thoughts greatly appreciated, thanks…

If i understand you right, its plasma you talking about.
There is at the right corner of the taskbar this clickable area (yellow sichel or whatever it is). It should open up the adjustments where you can drag everything the way you like.
I hope i was getting it right. Did you try this already?
That’s KDE Gnome does not have the cashew. I don’t use Gnome but I’d guess there is some sort of adjustment control. Did you try right clicking this often will give you menu to allow that kind of adjustment.
Thanks for the replies guys… I feel kinda stupid right now lol I figured it out, I must have completely overlooked it.
What I did was right clicked a portion of the taskbar (R-clicked the show/hide button on either end of the taskbar) and the menu it brought up is called “Panel Properties” and under the “General” tab there is a check box that says “Expand,” checked that and now all is good… Can’t believe I didn’t see that. Although, it is kind of difficult to get to those “Properties” if the taskbar is filled with icons because you need to R-click a portion that is free of icons, which could be very difficult with all the junk that gets put down there by default.
