How to scan multiple recto-verso documents (sane + hplip)

The hp printer is : HP OfficeJet Pro 9010_series.

Printing recto-verso multiple documents work as expected
Scanning recto multiple documents work as expected, all files are sent to the computer.
Scanning recto-verso multiple documents does not scan recto-verso.
Xsane stop when all recto documents has been scanned.
Only odd pages are scanned.

How xsane + printer are supposed to work together.
Any help is welcome.

Xsane has a website that seems to be still active, but the software itself doesn’t seem to have been developed since 2016.

Since it’s a GUI for X11 and all desktops are moving to Wayland, Xsane’s future seems compromised to me.

You could try Skanpage.

This scanner may, also, require HP proprietary software to operate in automatic duplex mode.

Try to install HP drivers.

Same problem. Scanner refuse to do recto-verso and stop a the last odd page

As said in the title hplip is installed and proprietary hp-plugin is installed
