how to run WINE in suse

hi

well now i have new opensuse 11.1 in my pc

and in same computer i have Windows XP as well

where i have installed the software like dreamweaver, photoshow, eclipse, jet audio and so on

i want to access all those exe file from linux and run it there as well

so what i have to do…

either i have to install all of them using wine and run it there is opes suse 11.1 or i can easily without installation run those exe of XP…

so tell me the way…

if i have to use WINE to install all those exe files

then which package i have to install in suse…so that i can install and run them

please guide me…

as far as possible i want to save my disk space and do not like install two files in two different places…so help and guide me…step by step

It’s looking for the dvd install media. Either put it in or disable it in the repo manager and it will pick it up from the online repo. Even better add the wine repo
Index of /repositories/Emulators:/Wine:/STABLE/openSUSE_11.1

If you mean you want to disable the dvd?
Please post the result of this from a terminal

zypper lr -d

i must download wine…but i dont know how… :slight_smile:

when i enter in terminal: sudo zypper in

i got:
“Loading repository data…
Reading installed packages…
‘wine’ not found.
Resolving package dependencies…
Nothing to do.”

whel how to download ? :slight_smile:

Go to Yast - Software - Repositories
Select Add and then the community radio button
Check the ‘Education’ repo and accept

When it’s done open a terminal and become su and do:

zypper in wine

Hello, I jusr got suse linux enterprise. Is it the same as open suse? When I go to the Add, it does not have the education option. How do I proceed to install wine then?

It’s not the same. Well, least not when it comes to adding repos. But otherwise they are very similar.

I would expect wine to be available in your default repos though.
