How to remove deleted files

Apologies in advance for this most basic question but how do I empty the Trash bin in openSUSE? I have poked all around YaST and done some googleing but still can’t seem to find a simple way to remove deleted files.

Assuming you’re running KDE, have you tried rt-clicking the trash icon in Dolphin?

I haven’t got a Trash icon, probably because I am running Xfce which comes with Thunar as it’s file manager. I avoided Gnome and KDE because of all the bloatware they both included which is not required for a server desktop. However beginning to think Xfce might have been a mistake.

I see the trash icon in xfce. Try “xfce4-settings-manager” for many
customizations. Click on “desktop”, then “icon” tab.

Assuming that XFCE follows the FreeDesktop.org Trash spec like GNOME and KDE do, then you the Trash is located as ~/.local/share/Trash. So if you’re stuck not being able to find an icon, you can just look in that directory. There’s two directories in there, one contains the files, the other contains info about when info about each file that’s in the Trash such as when it was deleted and where it was originally located.
