How to read error message during installation?

I have laptop. Laptop probably have some hardware problems. Dos testing utilites show that everything is ok and in dos i have no problems.
When i tried install openSuSe 11 from DVD i had error in DVD checksum (DVD was 100% fine). Then i tried to install from network. Now i have some error in console and immediately Linuxrc error message “An error occured during the installation”. Linuxrc error message cover/close console error message.
How read console error message?

Did you run the media check from the dvd?

Can’t figure this out!

There is I think an option in the GUI installer to “view details” during install.
Or try using the video options (F3) (I think) at the dvd install boot screen and select text mode. It’s a bit harder to work if you are not use to it.

I cant find any “view details”.

When i use “text mode” i have exactly same problem. Linuxrc error message close or covers text console error message.

again: Did you run the media check from the dvd?

This is once the install has started!

Full DVD (4.3 gb) media check fail. Then i write network CD (70 mb).

I now checked network mini CD. Its fail too! I thought that mini CD is used only to boot network installer…

So problem is in DVD drive after linux kernel is loaded. But i still need to read error message.

In linuxrc is /setting/Debug(expert) option. It contains Animation, Load Root Image into Ram Disk, Enter root image, Bootp Time-Out, DHCP/BOOTP, VNC Enable or Disable, Enable or Disable SSH Mode, Start Shell, Get SLP Info.

I think i found. Need to press Alt+F3 and Alt+F8.
When Alt+F3 - last message “setfont linuxrc2-16.psfu”
When Alt+F8 - “Fatal server error: Caught signal 11. Server aborting”

Ok. I found problem. Memory fault. To see error messages need to use Alt+F1-9
