How to put openSUSE 11.4 to USB with Ubuntu?

My friend doesnt have DVD’s, and he wants OpenSUSE. He has USB stick and Ubuntu 11.10 installed to his computer. He downloaded the 11.4 KDE LIVE version. He tried to put it to USB stick with UNetBootin and it didnt work, it copied just few files so he has only 1 folder in his usb and he gets error when booting from that. How to make USB stick which has all files with Ubuntu?

Hi
Just use the dd command, have a read of this article SDB:Live USB stick - openSUSE

He gets “Command not found” message.

Hi
Probably needs to install ddrescue…

dd is installed by default on every ubuntu system, what is the exact command
he typed and what is the exact error message?

PC: oS 11.4 64 bit | Intel Core i7-2600@3.40GHz | KDE 4.6.0 | GeForce GT 420
| 16GB Ram
Eee PC 1201n: oS 11.4 64 bit | Intel Atom 330@1.60GHz | KDE 4.7.2 | nVidia
ION | 3GB Ram

He typed:
sudo dd_rescue openSUSE-11.4-KDE-LiveCD-i686.iso /dev/sdf1
And he gets “Command not found”

He did sudo apt-get install ddrescue and now he got it making the USB. Lets hope it works.

Sorry I missed that in the link given it is not the plain dd command but
dd_rescue which of course needs to be installed by the extra package. Sorry
if I introduced confusion.

Hi
If it does, tell the user they are free to go and update the SDB article

Nope, same error, it doesnt work… If he dont find way to get it work he will use his mother’s computer (which has Windows) to make USB stick
