How to operate an smart card reader?

I’m not able to run a smart card reader. I have two models and none works: “Teo by XIRING” and “VASCO DIGIPASS 905”
I need to install to run a card reader? How can I test?

Are your card readers in one of these lists?

Hi
So when you connect either of the devices, do you get output from the commands;

dmesg
lsusb

Hi
Both use ccid, is the package pcsc-ccid installed? Do you get output
from the command (as your root user);

pcscd

And the package ‘pcsc-ccid’ is installed?

I found the following message in /var/log/messages when connect the reader:

Hi
So one wonders if it’s a udev rule that may be causing an issue. Now I note there is a systemd smartcard.target (man systemd.special) which should activate when a device is plugged in or present during boot.

Since I don’t have a device, I’m at a bit of a loss, might be better for you to raise a bug (I’m thinking systemd) for it.
