In previous versions of LEAP, when you are at the login screen, there was an option to select KDE, Gnome,… But this seems gone. How does one do this in LEAP 15.2?
Same. That is if you have other DEs installed of course. And the place where you see this on the login screen depends on the Diaplay Manager you use.
If you have KDE installed, go to System settings>Start up and Shutdown which offers you several options.
I agree with other commenters. I am not noticing any big change here.
It depends on which displaymanager you are using.
What is the output from:
ls -l /etc/alternatives/default-displaymanager
Perhaps you finished up using a different displaymanager than what you previously used, and don’t know where to look for selecting desktop.
/etc/alternatives/default-displaymanager -> /usr/lib/X11/displaymanagers/sddm
I boot into KDE Plasma. I upgraded from 15.1
I no longer see the option to select a display manager.
To change display manager (as root):
update-alternatives --config default-displaymanager
You could also do that with:
Yast → Miscellaneous → Alternatives
Using SDDM, with the default SDDM theme, there should be a desktop selector toward the bottom left of the screen.
