I have to move pictures (usually png, jpg, tiff) between a thumb drive, files, Gimp and Scribus. As a newbie to SUSE 12.4 (from Win XP & 7) I’m accustomed to using copy & paste, but apparently that doesn’t work here. I checked the manual (Beginning SUSE Linux, 2nd ed.), but couldn’t find anything.about it. How??
Hi Robertdi,
why should copy & past not work? Maybe you can explain what you are exactly trying to do, and what openSUSE / window manager you are using? (12.4 does not exist).
If you use a file manager (e.g. in KDE that is dolphin) you can use the usual ctrl+c / ctrl+v Your thump drive should appear in “places” down left. Or are you trying to copy / paste in between the applications? Even then it should work (although I don’t know scribus). So, what exactly are you trying to do?
Best regards
kasi

The document you refer to may be outdated
Use this http://doc.opensuse.org/ instead
GNOME 3.6.2
openSUSE Release 12.3 (Dartmouth) 64-bit
Kernel Linux 3.7.10-1.16-desktop
copy / paste works fine
even easier is dragging from one device to another using your file manager (dolphin) and you are given a dialogue to link / copy / move
easier again than the above screenshot would be using split screen in Dolphin.
