How to make kernal headers for VMWare Player.

Hi there.

New to SUSE/LINUX I have tried to get VMWare Player to work on 11.3.
It is asking for kernal headers.
How do I get them in the right place for VMWare Player to read.

Strangely enough, I have managed to do it once before and always write down the way I do things, but it is not working this time!

This forum, “howto submissions”, is supposed to be where you explain to us
how to do things - not where you ask for help. >:-)

Please move the question to another forum - for example “help applications”.

Ok.

However I can tell you what to do in SUSE 11.3 after poking around on the net for the last two days.

  1. Install “GCC” from Install/Remove Software.
  2. Install “kernal-source” from Install/Remove Software.
  3. Manually download VMWare Player.
  4. Open GNOME terminal and enter “su” followed by your password.
  5. Enter “cd /home/(your name)/Downloads”.
  6. Enter “sh (name of downloaded file)”. You can right click on the downloaded file, click Properties and copy name for easy paste into terminal.

AND OFF YOU GO!
