How To Install WINE Version 6.0 Release Candidate on openSUSE Tumbleweed KDE 64Bit?

Hi,

I see the release candidate of WINE version 6.0 was just released!
How do I install WINE 6.0 RC into my openSUSE Tumbleweed KDE 64Bit?
Thanks!

Jesse

Hi
Branch on OBS, update, build, test and then submit is how a community distribution generally works… openSUSE is a do-ocrity. Else wait for the Wine maintainers to update and use the development repository;

Don’t forget when testing, other package breakages may occur and will need fixing/submitting…

Looks like as of the moment I’m writing this post, Wine6.0 was committed to Master branch only 3 hrs ago.

As Malcolm describes, you can wait until maintainers (Marcus?) can get this new source building.

Else,
If you’re in a hurry and want to get a look at this, there are instructions how to build your own on this Wiki page(I’d recommend in a disposable virtual machine instead of on metal)

https://en.opensuse.org/Wine#Repositories

I skimmed the WineHQ main branch git repository and I didn’t notice instructions for building, so I assume that the prerequisites are still the same (yeah, unlikely).
But you should have enough to build from source from either a tar package or cloning the git repository, links on the following page

Wine 6.0~rc1 just arrived: https://software.opensuse.org/package/wine

Already got installed. Just works.
