How to install the latest version of dnscrypt-proxy?

Version of dnscrypt-proxy for openSUSE Leap 15.2 is 1.9.5. This is so old.

I am guessing (https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home%3Acunix%3Aserver_dns/dnscrypt-proxy) by cunix. But don’t know how. I did read the wiki for adding package repositories but which url I need to include in the zypper ar command is not apparent to me.

Thats dangerous…

Because its add the factory Repo (Tumbleweed) to stable Leap 15.2 and you will get problems…

Exactly. Anyway, newer version for Leap 15.3 is available from OBS server:dns project.

Say there is another app that is not updated or not included in the official repos; how do I go about finding them other repos such as the one mentioned above?

It does but I want features provided by the newer version such as adding custom dns servers easily. Also there is a huge update that makes DoH anonymous.

It does not work for Leap 15.3 (and unless the underlying problem is fixed it won’t work for any future Leap version. As long as Leap development model remains the same). Just try to search for dnscrypt-ptoxy.

Click “Show experimental packages” -> choose “Expert download” -> SLE ->

  1. Run or download file dnscrypt-proxy.ymp (https://software.opensuse.org/ymp/server:dns/openSUSE_Leap_15.3/dnscrypt-proxy.ymp)

OR

  1. Choose “Add repository and install manually” for manual control (preferred).

For openSUSE Leap 15.3 run the following as root:

               zypper addrepo https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/server:dns/openSUSE_Leap_15.3/server:dns.repo

zypper refresh
zypper install dnscrypt-proxy

Or even

  1. Choose “Grab binary packages directly”

We can bypass soo restrictions for a Leap 15.3 - see previous message.
