Boot From a USB Drive Even if your BIOS Won’t Let You - How-To Geek

I doubt someone could offer a better explanation that the one provided on the Plop’s website. If it sounds too complicated - it might if you’re not familiar with the commands listed there and with boot concepts in general - I would recommend not using it. Playing with bootmanagers when you’re unsure is like playing with fire. IMHO it is safer to replace your CD/DVD drive and having a working CD/DVD drive doesn’t hurt anyway. You might also check if there is a BIOS update available for your computer which maybe would allow it to boot from USB - although flashing the BIOS might be something you don’t want to try (you can screw up your mainboard if you don’t know what you’re doing or if something goes wrong).

  • It looks like someone provided a simpler explanation after all. (didn’t see your post, John).

hey thx…a lot…i tried again reading instructions on their official website.
now its done…thx again…

like some others here i have NO idea how to do anything in MS-Windows…

i wouldn’t have a clue how to force Windows to help you install a
non-Windows operating system…

i guess your best bet would be to ask the folks that made PLOP (and
their confusing web site) how, because i think the folks in Redmond
Washington won’t help you at all…
